TitleThe Teachings of Jesus Put to the Test of Time
NotesThis is a different kind of test, as students are invited to give Christianity a test. Two thousand years ago, Jesus of Nazareth expected his followers to put the needs of others before their own and, if necessary, to put their own lives on the line. Do the teachings of Jesus stand the test of time?

This BBC-produced series journeys to England, America, Burma, Honduras and South Africa to explore the lives of real people who believe the teachings of Jesus are still relevant today. Geared to youth, this series can also provoke discussion among adults. The four sessions are:

  • Commitment
A formerly homeless woman dedicates her life to helping those on the streets of New York. A young British man risks imprisonment to protest oppression in Burma (Myanmar).
  • Inner Peace
A police officer who survived an IRA bombing finds healing in Christianity. Former gang members minister to troubled youth in a violent Boston neighbourhood.
  • Money
A Christian band from Manchester chooses to put the proceeds from their music back into the community. A Christian organization in Honduras provides small loans to people in poverty establishing small businesses.
  • Forgiveness
Individuals in South Africa, after suffering terrible oppression, advance the cause of reconciliation and healing.
Series comes with Leader's Guide, photocopyable worksheets and program scripts.
