TitleMining Justice: Promoting justice for affected people, communities and the earth
NotesApproximately 75 percent of mining and exploration companies worldwide are headquartered in Canada. these companies have operations in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Canadian mining operations provide jobs, contribute to a host nation's economy, and sometimes support schools, clinics and local development projects. But some mines also

disregard the inherent right of indigenous people

displace people from their land

destroy forest, agriculture land and homes

use vast amounts of water and contaminate water supplies

contribute to violence and human rights violations

The segment LaMina features people of Guatemala and Honduras talking about the impact of Canadian minig operations on their communities. (15 minutes)

The segment Gold Mine tells the story of Francisco Machado, a Mennonite pastor involved in minig reform in Honduras. (5 minutes)
