TitleWe Should Talk Peace: Stories of African Peacemakers
NotesFind hope in the stories of grassroots peacemakers in Africa who are making a difference in their own communities.

Nigeria. "I was one of the religious fanatics," says Amina Ahmed, a Muslim woman who is now a leading peacemaker in her community in Jos where tensions between Christians and Muslims exploded in recent years.

Kenya. "We have so much pain in our hearts because we did so much we cannot forget," recalls Douglas Kariuki, a former soldier who plants a tree of peace together with his former enemy. At peace museums across the Kenyan Rift Valley, students begin a journey of rediscovering their peace traditions and finding the connection between peace and the environment.

Uganda. "I feel we have to build a generation of peace-loving people. So that those who are coming after, when they talk to them, they don't talk war. We should talk peace," says Sister Josephine Acan who helps rehabilitate girls who have escapted the violence of the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda.
