TitleA Healing Approach to Elder Abuse and Mistreatment: The Restorative Justice Approaches to Elder Abuse Project
AuthorArlene Groh
NotesElder abuse is often referred to as a hidden crime. Many older adults carry this tragic secret to their graves. This concern led the Restorative Justice Approaches to Elder Abuse project to seek a healing, safe approach to elder abuse.

When an elder is abused, a trust is broken, and relationships take a long time to heal. The elderly are often reluctant to use traditional legal recourse. This kit describes the causes and signs of elder abuse, as well as the barriers within the traditional justice system. It shows how restorative justice principles and methods can be applied to elder abuse. Healing occurs as honesty, dignity and respect are restored.
