Bernardo is the new kid at school; he speaks only Spanish and his classmates speak only English. At first, Francine thinks he's rude and stupid because he doesn't respond to her questions. Not until he helps with their tin can telephone project does Francine realize he's actually smart. Mr. Ortiz, the science teacher, explains it takes a long time to learn a new language. Arthur suggests a Spanish-English club to help tham all learn how to speak Spanish and English.
