| Notes | Since the Amazon River basin occupies almost half the country, Brazil is often assumed to be a humid country. The northeast region, however (that makes up 12 percent of Brazil's area) has a semi-arid climate. MCC has worked with local partners such as farmers' unions, cooperatives, associations and church communities in this region for the past 30 years, mainly through water programs, such as dam and cistern construction, and training in crop and livestock farming. Meet Maria Jose, Lidia, Antonio, Josefa, Carlos, Alice and others, people for whom MCC has made a difference.
"Before I had my cistern I suffered a lot. After it was built things got easier. I get my water here at home without any problems. I have more time because of this and I can sleep more." - Maria Edileuza
Includes study guide. Additional materials including a display, children's activities and more information on MCC's water projects are available upon request. |
