TitleFolktales of Peace II
NotesProfessional storytellers bring to life three tales from other cultures. The stories provide a springboard for discussing vital concerns; how to be a good neighbour, why people fight and how they can make amends, sharing earth's resources.

Slops - In this Welsh tale, a couple learns they are tossing their slops on top of a "wee person's" home. They figure out a friendlier disposal method and are unexpectedly rewarded.

A Blind Man Catches a Bird - A Zimbabwean tale about a blind man who deduces that his young friend has replaced the beautiful bird in his trap with the ordinary bird in his own. He uses the experience to reply to the question, "Why do people fight one another?"

The War Between the Sandpipers and the Whales - In this tale from the Marshal Islands, a whale orders a sandpiper to stay out of his water. The spat escalates into full-fledged "war." But when the sea animals realize that their selfishness endangers them all, they decide to share the ocean.
