TitleRebeka Goes to China
NotesA nine-year- old girl looks on her experiences living in China. She moved to China with her parents and little sister when she was seven years old. They lived on the campus of Zhongshan University where her parents taught English. Her stay comes to an abrupt and wrenching end because of fears of government violence during student protests.

The video shows Rebeka attending an all-Chinese school, learning to read, write and speak mandarin, and making friends with her classmates. Viewers learn about her school's curriculum and methods of discipline, her little sister's nursery school, food, and her version of the student protests.

Rebeka was immersed in China's culture just as viewers will be. She helps students understand what life in China is like, and her delight at her experience will encourage them to learn more about other cultures.

Includes study guide.
